In the years I have realized that who you are is not defined by the college you study in or the jobs you've worked in. What matters at the end of the day is that you did not compromise yourself to please others. Life is not short, it is actually a lot longer than we think and if one decides to spend days working in a shit job, under a narcissistic boss and puts oneself down just to please others, then you are making a huge mistake. You start hating yourself and everyone around you and dwelling upon things that don't matter at all.
It is all a part of life to figure out what is good for your soul and what's not. And once you know the person you don't want to be, a whole new dimension opens up in your brain. You start liking everything and look for signs that say "DON'T GO THAT WAY". No matter how hard life is or how bad your job is one thing that we have to make sure is that we are not lying to ourselves just because the world wants us to be certain way. Working in a low paying job is better than working in a Company that doesn't respect its employees. I have experienced all sorts of situations and what I chose to do in the end is what will save me from losing myself. Being independent and having a healthy lifestyle is more important than being miserable, having health issues and earning millions wasting it all away to get better. And trust me when I say this "it will not get better unless you realize what is important to YOU not to others"
To give you an example, I was the type of person who need all the money and comfort in life. After 6 or 7 years of being an adult I still need the comfort and money but not on the expense of my Integrity and peace of mind. I can manage not being able to buy a car or not having a big house or not even having a big family, but i refuse to work in a job that makes me miserable and live a life that doesn't match with my inner beliefs. I hope whoever reads this post, if anyone does (no hard feelings), is able to understand what I am trying to say and how such an awakening is important for human beings so that they do not regret the lives they have lead. No one is born a know it all, we all have to experience diverse situations to understand ourselves. Some are sure of everything early on as a teenager or as a young adult and some reach the level of truth and realization when they get older. But it is never too late to be who you are, YOU JUST HAVE TO LET GO...
PS: I am not a spiritual person and this post is not in anyway something you will read on tiny buddha. I only write to express myself and ensure that I am able to capture every moment of freedom and mental peace in my own few, unprofessional posts. :))))))))
